William Wayne Witt

West Point, 1963

Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dick Roberts on October 16, 2011:

"My Brother William Wayne Witt has reached the end of his earthly toils. The brittle thread which bound him to earth has been severed and his liberated spirit has winged its flight to the unknown world. The silver cord is loosed; the golden bowl is broken; the pitcher is broken at the fountain; and the wheel is broken at the cistern. His dust has returned to the earth as it was, and his spirit has returned to GOD who gave it."

After the game had been played and the stadium stood quiet again, Bill had left nothing on the field. He'd used every last erg. In all his many roles as husband, father, athlete, warrior, businessman, outdoors man and earth developer Bill gave it all, and fortunately, in one way or another, that which he gave is still here.

I was fortunate enough to know Bill well when we were young men, through the middle years and during his last fighting few. Through them all Bill was the personification of the words "integrity" and "courage" as he served his God, family and country well, always with honor and steadfast purpose. One of the really good guys, Bill will be missed by all that befriended him along his earthly path. It surely can be said " Well Done Friend and Brother Soldier."

Pax Vobiscum.
