Be Thou At Peace

Posted by David Jones on November 20, 2011:

Dave,

I seems a long time since the days that we were in Baghdad together with 3-67 AR. Two deployments to Afghanistan have given me a different perspective on what happened in the Hounds of Hell and what we were able to accomplish in those dark days. You played a big part in making the roads in eastern Baghdad safer for your fellow soldiers, which makes your sacrifice that much more meaningful.

I will never forget my last patrol out of Rustamiyah. I was in a 1st CAV tank after an eight hour route security mission, showing the new unit the roads and battlespace. As I was coming into the gate of Rustamiyah, your final patrol was leaving. Hours later when I heard what happened to you and CPT Hamill, my heart dropped. Nothing in the unit was the same, and everyone felt the loss.

I guess I just want to say thanks, and that you made a difference.
