| When I was assigned to the Army Staff in 1974 fresh from CGSC and a total novice about the Pentagon and especially joint actions, Colonel John Bellinger was the wise man assigned to me from the Army Planner. He gently took me in hand and quickly taught me what to do. He supervised many other joint actions in which I was involved and I cherished our relationship. He was a terrific squash player as well, and way ahead of my league. From time to time in later years I would run into John Bellinger and he always remembered me. The Army and the Nation have lost a good man. |
