Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Duane Kuhlmann on February 26, 2012:

I was Col Ingall's Operations Officer 1955 to 1957 when he commanded the 82nd Strategic Reconnaissance Squadron at Moses Lake AFB. The 82nd was equipped with the RF84F.

Major Ingalls was called "Guffey" by all his friends. It seems that when Guffey was a youngster walking around on an Army Base his father Commanded, he was stopped by a Military Policeman for some minor infraction of base regulations. Guffey told the MP "Don't give me any of your GUFF." Of course this was told to his Father and from then on he was known as Guffey Ingalls - - even when I knew him as a Major.

Guffey was a great Commander and a good friend.
