George Fee was my uncle, only brother of my father, Frank W. Fee. My brothers and I always loved Uncle George. I have vague memories of him returning from the Korean conflict and my older brother and I almost worshipped him as a war hero. George was always kind, friendly, but not very communicative. I don't remember ever hearing an unkind word from him. We were devastated when his marriage to Jane Frederick ended in bitter divorce. I rarely ever saw my cousins, the four children of this marriage, after the divorce. These four children ended up estranged from Uncle George, although I could never understand how anyone could dislike him. When I was in my mid-teens, I thought I had learned a little bit about wrestling. I figured that Uncle George was getting a little older and that, if I couldn't beat him, I could at least give him a good challenge. So. I challenged Uncle George to a wrestling match. He pinned me so fast that I didn't even know what happened. It was only later that I understood Uncle George had been captain of the wrestling team at West Point and east coast collegiate champion in his weight class. I will always remember Uncle George with the greatest of fondness. May God bless him.
