Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Edgar F on May 6, 2012:

I first met John at the age of 14 at Fort Hamilton army base, in Brooklyn, NY. My first impression of John was that of a powerful individual, a strong and proud all American military man. Truly an intimidating sight at that age. But as I grew to know him troughout the years that followed I saw he was a loving and caring individual. Truly an unforgettable man. He invited me into his home and treated me like one of his own. My last encounter with John was when he invited me to his thanksgiving dinner. Now as grown man and no longer a kid I could see he was proud of me. He invited me with open arms to dine at his table; he accepted me as family and I will never forget his kindness. I will never forget you, John, a man truly larger than life .....may you watch over us and keep us safe until we meet again ...
