Be Thou At Peace

Born 22 June 1945 in LaMesa, NM to Arturo L. and Maria O. Ruiz, died 4 March 2012 (resided in Waynesboro, PA).

Loving husband of Nancy D. for 43 wonderful years, and father to Robin (and Dwight) Wheeler, Miguel J. and Kathleen M., and grandfather to Grace and Elijah Wheeler. Also survived by a brother and sister, five brother-in-laws, five sister-in-laws and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Graduate of Gadsden HS (64), USMA West Point (68), Sorbonne in Paris, France and Middleburg College, VT (74).

Served the country honorably with the United States Army for 24 years. Volunteered and served combat duty in VietNam. Served in US, Korea, France and Spain. Retired from the Army as Lieutenant Colonel.

Taught HS math and languages for 10 years in Smithsburg, MD. Then became a consultant with Northrup Grumman teaching peace keeping skills to soldiers in six African countries for 11 years.

A graveside service was held at Arlington National Cemetery on May 10, 2012.

Mike will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a gentleman of great honor, character and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Franklin and Fulton County Unit, 384 Floral Avenue, Chambersburg PA 17201 or Grove Cancer Center, 755 Norland Avenue, Suite 100, Chambersburg PA 17201.
