| Chum was my first boss when I arrived at WP in 1975 to teach leadership. No one could have a better boss and mentor. Chum was the best listener I ever met and to this day. I recall vividly the day Chum came to me with a smile on his face (he ALWAYS smiled) to tell me Colonel Buckley wanted to see me. To a Captain, this got my attention so I asked him if he knew what was wrong (I assumed something was wrong) and smiling again, he told me that the civilian "blackboard cleaners" were complaining about me. Evidently, I used too much colored chalk and it took longer to clean it off between classes. I was stunned and Chum just said, relax, Fred and welcome to the cleaners "union." |
