Phil, It's Memorial Day 2012 and another year has passed since I last wrote to you. Much has happened with me: I graduated MCCC, PCS'd to Ft Drum, NY, and deployed for 3 months to Afghanistan. Though I reserve these notes to Memorial Day, I want you to know that I am constantly reminded of you and our friendship. We spent some good times in the gym, at dinner, and dragging ourselves through Sandhurst. I looked up to you like a big brother, and I felt comfort knowing that you respected me as a peer and not as a younger Cadet. I know I cannot see you in this life, but the smile and warmth and happiness that are provoked from the memory of you is the foundation to the strength and confidence that I've gained over the years. To have known a man like you is a gift that is greater than any other. Thank you, Phil. -Adam |
