Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Pat Haley on May 30, 2012:

Hawley Oakes will live in the memory of hundreds of men and women. He was the most compassionate and sharing person I have ever known. He and his beloved Carol touched the lives of so many cadets during their tours at West Point. Later in life, Hawley found another outlet to continue his service to mankind. He worked tirelessly for the AA program in the local area. Many a veteran was reached because of his compassion. Hawley was not just a classmate, he was a dear friend for life. Had it not been for Hawley, my daughter may not have made through to graduation. He and Carol took her in like a daughter and were a great help throughout her years at West Point. Well Done Be Thou At Peace is more than just a part of our Alma Mater in this case. Hawley, to the end personified all that we strive to be. WE will be ever grateful for his lifetime of service.
