I grieve his loss especially because he and I were the last of the 8 young lieutenants from the class of 45 assigned to Tempelhof in 1946. Later, we served near each other flying a host of aircraft as well as a tour in SAC flying B-29s and B-47s. With his great intellect he breezed through Michigan and astronaut training. Quite by coincidence we worked on the development of two diffeent air launched missiles. His family and the country have lost a great man and patriot. LORRIN PETERSON |
