Be Thou At Peace

| Neil was my beast barracks room-mate. He was as tall and strong as a mountain. Begley played for the black nights busting up all his fingers in the line. His maturity during beast barracks was inspiring. Never faltering in humor, discipline and cooperation with the program were his strengths. Neil taught me during those first months at West Point that we actually needed the discipline, stress, and even some of the horror of beast barracks before starting down the road towards becoming adequate officers for the US Army. To him war was not a game and that preparation to be a leader under such horrific conditions must be continuously and eagerly sought. Earth will sorely miss him. May he be a soldier with Christ in His kingdom of heaven. |
