Ltc. Korchek was a man that I always looked up to. He was my CO. in the 8th special forces in Panama in the 1970's. We went on a mission together to Honduras where I was able to see another side of him other than the strict button-down CO. A few years ago when my life had taken a turn for the worse, I found a letter that he wrote to me when I left the service. I cherish that letter and I had it framed. It hangs in a prominent place in my home and in my heart. When I read the letter, I feel good that a man like him thought so highly of me. I have never forgotten Ltc. Korchek and I was sorry to hear that he had passed away. I had been loking for him to tell him what an effect he had in my life, but I never found him. I would love to hear from his family so I can at least tell them. |
