Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Christopher Lynch on November 12, 2012:

Joined the Army for OCS, they were not killing enough Lt's that period, so my OCS contract was flushed, I became a three year draftee.

Did do Basic with I believe, a good portion of this class, there were 2 non USMA in the entire company.

Like many, I did some time in Germany before I did my year in Viet Nam. Spent a lot of time wondering how my classmates did in the next few years, but I came to these pages to find out many did poorly.

The class was a pretty tight group of men, no one had a chip, no one had anything to prove, maybe the cadre let off a bit, as these guys would be their superiors on graduation.

Anyway, sort of sad how many of us died over there. Found Kenneth Thomas Cummings' name, also sad he went through the Point, then gave his life, but there were no eulogy's written for him.

Anyway, for him, and the other soldiers who gave their lives and are yet to be remembered by their peers, I'd like to give a grunt of thanks on Vet's Day, 2012. No, you are not forgotten, far from it.
