Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Dale Hirsch Johnson on November 14, 2012:

George W. Hirsch, Jr., better know as Buddy to our family, was and remains to this day, a heroic figure. I was never blessed to know him, but his memory remains so strong within our family, that he still binds us together as the central theme of all our lives - Integrity, Honesty and Country. My father (Thomas M. Hirsch) and younger brother to Buddy, followed in Buddy's footsteps in the USAF as a much distinguished fighter pilot and Vietnam War hero. The untimely and shocking loss of his brother was a blow that he never fully recovered from. Buddy was his hero. My brothers and I felt like we knew Buddy from the stories that kept his spirit always with us. Buddy, his mother and father and brother are together now, having gracefully slipped the surly bonds of earth and once again are joyfully reunited. We miss them all deeply.
