Scott was one of my roommates 1st Semester yearling year. As we came from different Buckner companies, I had no idea who he was or what kind of roommate he would be. I needn't be worried as he was a great roommate and friend. I quickly learned that he would do anything for a friend. One thing that I will always fondly remember (and I have told this story literally hundreds of times through the years) was his love of "dip." He would fall asleep with a bunch of dip in his mouth, wake up in the morning go over to the sink rinse out his mouth and put in a fresh dip. He was a "dipping" machine. After graduation I fell out of touch with Scott but was surprised by a phone call from his future Father-in-Law. He told me that Scott was going to be married (he was in stationed in Germany, I was at Ft. Lewis) and he wanted to know if I could throw together a Saber detail. I was happy to do it as I know Scott would have done the same for me. I am sorry that I didn't do a better job of keeping in touch after that happy day. April 8th has always been a day that I remember well as it my oldest brother's birthday and I remember Hank Aaron trotting around the bases with his 715th Home Run. I will continue to reflect on April 8th in the future, to remember my roommate and friend.
