Be Thou At Peace

Posted by carolehayesgentileyurman on April 28, 2013:

I grew up with Jay, he was the only "big brother" I knew.

We lived at one time in the same house and later on, next door to each other. I guess I was about two or three when we first met. As the only boy in our circle, he was uncomfortable with all of the girls around him, but was very protective of me, as I was younger. Later on, he invited me to graduation at West Point to be the guest of a close friend of his.

He was very gallant and concerned with the comfort of others. He was more than his parents could have wished for and a wonderful example for his younger brothers. I am very proud of the man he became and sorry that he is no longer with us. I never met his two children, but know that he was very proud of them. They lost a wonderful parent and role model.
