Today is Memorial Day, 2013. Tomorrow our Class gets together for our 50th Reunion at West Point. Don Griffin will be with us in spirit only. Don and I were in the same Beast Barracks Company together. Just two months to get to know each other in the hectic atmosphere of boot camp. Don was one of the quiet ones, friendly but not the outgoing type. Too soon, we went into our separate Regiments, far apart from each other. I rarely saw him again, except by chance. I noticed the stars on his collar, marking him as among the brightest in our Class. I never saw him again after Graduation Day. He served his Army and I served mine. Be thou at peace, amigo.
