John Anthony Calabro
West Point, 1968
Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Larry Smith on July 11, 2013:
I knew John Calabro as a great friend. I visited West Point over a long period of years to do business at the WPAOG and each time John was there, ready and willing to accomplish all that was asked. He was a delight to deal with and to talk to, about any subject. He especially loved good books and was constantly encouraging me to read them. His calm demeanor and sharp wit were obvious to all who knew him. It's hard to believe that he is gone. He was in Sacramento for our Founders Day this past March and my wife Maren and I spend a pleasant afternoon with him talking at our home prior to the event. He was in the best of spirits then and gave a talk that night that many of the graduates present told me was one of the best Founders Day speeches they had ever heard. Visiting with he and Angela at West Point was always a highlight of any trip made there. He will be missed. Larry D. Smith, '62, Sacramento.
