Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Will Merrill on August 9, 2013:

I first met Bill Dunning as a new plebe on the first day of Beast Barracks and we became friends immediately. Throughout our West Point days we spent much time together although we were in different battalions.

Frequently playing Squash, the predecessor to Racketball, Bill would invariably beat me my a few points. Often playing Chess, he would also usually beat be by a little.

Unfortunately, our paths diverged at graduation. He in the Air Force, me in the Army.

I always scanned the list of attendees at reunions to see if he was coming but, we never seemed to attend the same reunions. As a result, other than a rare e-mail, I never saw Bill after graduation.

Rest in Peace, my friend!
