Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Marion Zilinski on November 19, 2013:

It has been eight years since that knock came on our door. I remember seeing the soldiers and knowing that my life would never be the same again. I remember the empty feeling inside my body, as if an important part of me was now gone. I remember waiting for you to come so that we would have you here with us. I remember the times that I cried so hard that I thought I couldn't go on with my life. It is at times like that, that I know that you are in a far better place. It is at times like that, that you let me feel your presence. It is at times like that, that you let me know that you live on. I loved the full moon early this morning as I walked outside and just knew that we shared that glance at the same time. Life moves forward year after year, but never a day goes by that you are not in our thoughts, that you don't bring a smile to my face and sometimes tears as well. I try to remember what you said in your final letter, that you died with no regrets and that Dad and I should be happy. We are trying Dennis. Eight years, seems like it was just tonight and other times it feels like 100 years. If only I could see you in my dreams, see that smiling face just one more time. I love you my son. Save that smile for me. XXXOOO
