I was there when Jay was born; I cut the cord. I saw him grow as a young man and was (and am) full of pride for his character, his achievements, and his unwavering determination to do the right thing. He was an inspiration to his brothers and sister. He loved to see their successes, too. He was a loving husband, dedicated unwaveringly to Jen and determined to be a great father to his children. His sense of duty to his command and the individuals in it were foremost in his mind when I hugged him last on January 5, 2005. He dedicated a song to me which he sang at his eighth grade graduation. We, his mom and I, dedicate this same song to him now?our hero, he is the wind beneath our wings. Ralph J. Harting, Jr. |
