Capt. Vallaster was my commanding officer when I was assigned to the 48th Ordnance Co. of the Seventh Army in Baumholder, Germany. It has been nearly 60 years ago but I have thought of him often since. During the summer of 1955 I committed a dumb and stupid thing that I could have been put on corporeal punishment for or perhaps court martialed but Capt. Vallaster chose to look the other way. I have never forgotten him for that. He was a good man and a good soldier. |
