Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Russell F. Walthour on May 15, 2014:
Pete, my dear friend, how well I remember the fun times we had together. One was the weekend Nancy and I spent with you and Cathy as your guests in your lovely home in Wilmington several years ago. The fun gathering we had with you and Cathy Pete Thorsen, Moose Matney, Joe and Jean Rogers, and Paul Coughlin and his wife at the Country Club on Sunday.
The other time I will remember until the day that I join you and Roy in eternity, was the trip you, Roy Herte, and I had with Mrs Fannan from Washington to West Point for our first reunion five years after we graduated.
Eddie Markham mentioned that experience in his eulogy to you. Mrs Fannan was Dottie's Mother and as you remember, a lovely lady. I am sure that she had never experienced a time with three crazier guys in all of her life. the jokes and laughter, of course helped along with enough beer for everyone, as Eddie alluded to, was almost TOO MUCH. Eddie has said that she talked about that trip until the day she died. At every reunion after that, you , Roy, and I had our picture taken together to have it sent to her.
Pete, knowing you and being your classmate at West Point, has been one of the wonderful blessings God has given me.
"Your work is done and your course on earth is run, And it certainly may be said WELL DONE. So now my friend, be at peace with Christ, forever. Russ Walthour
