Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Burt Hause on May 22, 2014:

I served with Ed. in the ceremonial company at Ft Myer Virginia. We became close associates and I was present when he met his wife Shirley at Ft Meyer. We coached the football team and worked together on all athletic endeavors. He became the locker officer at Ft Meyer and upgraded the quality of liquor beyond one's imagination. His source was unknown but he got the best for the cheapest price. It afforded us 15 cent martinis at the O Club. We would slip off occasionally to NYC for a night on the town, usually ending up at the 21 Club and then back home, barely time to change and make reveille. They were joyous days. We later visited Ed when he was stationed in the Caribbean and he and Shirley seemed to be doing fine. I loved them both. Burt Hause, classmate 1945
