Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Randy Nelson on June 1, 2005:

This is truly sad news. I met Roger during Beast in 71, played soccer with him for 4 years and saw him almost every day I was at The Academy. Roger was the example of what I always thought a Cadet should be. While he was stoic and reserved on the outside, he had the competitive spirit inside to accomplish most anything.

Every so often Roger would arrive on the soccer field and basically dominate, I never knew what got him there, but it allowed us to see a side of him that did not always come out, a strong competitive drive, that most likely drove him to many successes.

I met him two or three times after graduation, at Alumni Soccer games (usually with Johnnie (as Coach Palone would refer to him)) and in 5 minutes I knew he was the same Roger. My regrets and celebration to his family (who I know he loved) for the Son, Husband, Father who made a difference in the World.
