| I 'knew' Mr. Rupp solely through phone conversations from the late '90s, when he kindly consented to interviews pertaining to my research of the 180th Infantry Regiment's First Battalion's tour of combat duty in the Korean War. (My late father was a D Company machine gunner from '52-'53.) Mr. Rupp was unfailingly patient and generous in his recollections about his experiences commanding a First Battalion infantry platoon and, later, company (Able and Baker, I believe), and I am proud to count him as one of 'my' Korean War sources. God speed, Mr. Rupp. And thank you! |
