Be Thou At Peace

Haggs(Family members),

I'll never forget ADA Officer Basic Course, at Ft. Bliss, TX. We had a great time. I don't remember learning anything, other than how to get to Juarez and back to the U.S., in one piece. I still have video tape of one of our OBC parties. If any of Paul's family, or friends, wants a copy of the OBC parties, let me know. I knew Paul Haggerty, "Haggs," from 1991 through 1992. We had a great time, at Officer Basic Course, but we also had time to visit Jurez, Mexico. Paul had an excellent sense of humor. He could make anyone laugh. That was what really caught everyone by surprise. We knew he was a hockey player, at West Point. Hockey is not exactly a touchy-feely sport. There is a lot of hard-hitting and checking going on. Yet, Paul didn't seem to be that type of person. He was funny and easy-going. He was a great person to be around. Yet, he could still be very serious, when the situation came around. During OBC, we traveled to Juarez, Mexico, quite often. We picked up a lot of tequila and Kahluha, while we were there. If you remember, some tequila had a "worm" in the bottom of the bottle. We used to have some serious OBC parties, at the BOQ's. We would have parties at John Keenan's BOQ, on some weekends. I can still remember Paul (and everyone else), sitting in a chair, in the living room of John Keenan's BOQ. We each took turns sitting in the chair, and wrapping towels around our necks. It was a "rite of passage" for each of us to sit in the chair, and have 7-Up and Tequila "mixed" together, in our mouths. I never ate the worm. If I remember right, Paul got the worm, and was the unlucky winner, during one of our parties. After 1992, I lost touch with Paul. I understand that he eventually went back to West Point, where he was an assistant Hockey Coach. I will never forget him. If you want copies of the BOQ parties, please let me know.
