As a firstie in the spring of 1969, I was fortunate to have then "Major Focer" as an English "P." We were studying some deep philosophical subject, like The Enchirodion by Epictetus, for which I did not develop an appreciation until years later. Perhaps sensing this disconnect on the part of the entire class, one beautiful spring day, Major Focer led the entire section to Kosciuszko's Garden, where class resumed. I'll never forget "Major Focer" for that extraordinary gesture and I am truly saddened that he is no longer around so I could call or write to express my appreciation for this wonderful memory.
