Transcribed from www.findagrave.com entry #132743285: THOMAS PRENTIS KEHOE September 27, 1934 - April 3, 2014 Colonel Thomas P. Kehoe, USA (Ret.), will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. A mass will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. in the Old Post Chapel at Ft. Myer and a reception will be held at the Ft. Myer Officer's Club following the internment to celebrate his life. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of Thomas J. and Rose P. Kehoe, Tom grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He attended St. Michael's Catholic School and graduated from Gonzaga College High School in 1952. After a year at Fordham University, he received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 1957. As an infantry officer he attended Airborne and Ranger Schools and served proudly for twenty-six years in the Army. He received an MBA from the University of Alabama in 1968 and also graduated from the Armed Forces Staff College, Defense Systems Management School and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. For his distinguished service he was awarded the Silver Star, Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device and Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal and Air Medal. Upon his retirement in 1983, Tom joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and worked primarily on The Space Station Freedom Program until 1994, when the Space Station moved to Texas. He worked as a contractor for Hughes and then Raytheon (Mission to Planet Earth) until his retirement in 2000. Tom donated time to numerous organizations over the years including Scouts and Little League. For many years he used his computer skills to keep data bases, develop websites, and publish newsletters for his homeowner's association, his West Point class, the West Point Society of D.C. and the Northern Virginia Brain Injury Association. He received many awards for his efforts. During the past ten years, Tom was diagnosed and treated for prostate and breast cancer. Since 2010 he suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, which was the primary cause of death. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Katherine S. "Kay" Kehoe and three children, Katherine R. "Kathy", Thomas P., Jr. "Tip" and Kevin A. Kehoe. Daughter, Karen Kehoe LeBlanc, Kevin's twin, passed away suddenly in 1994 while pregnant with their third child. Additional family includes four adult grandchildren, Cheyne and Danielle Kehoe, Lauren and Alyssa LeBlanc and a great grandson, Cameron Kehoe. Other family members are Kevin's wife, Kim, Karen's husband, Robert LeBlanc and his wife, Jodi, and their children, Kylie and Aidan. Memorial contributions may be sent to Capital Caring Hospice Services at 2900 Telestar Court, Falls Church, Virginia 22042, the American Cancer Society, or the United States Military Academy at West Point.
