My daughter, Celina Baldwin, Class of 2013 and I met Mr. Whitfield during her senior year in high school. A strong relationship quickly built between the three of us and Mr. Whitfield was a great help and mentor for Celina in her journey to attending West Point. The help and support he gave to us both...there was no way to repay. When I presented him with 5x7 of Celina's plebe picture, he told me that picture will hold a place in the West Point room of his home, that honors his son Richard, Class of 1971 and himself, Class of 1948. I miss his friendship. Be Thou at Peace, Mr. Whitfield. |
