I did not know Captain Haller, but I was a company commander in 3/187 Infantry, 3rd Brigade, at Fort Campbell at the time of the Gander tragedy. It was a very sad time for the whole 101st Airborne Division. I was the OIC of a funeral detail in Virginia to bury an officer, which was a hard experience. To Captain Haller, a fellow officer and soldier, rest in peace; To his family, my best wishes in his memory; I live close to Arlington Cemetery and will visit his grave. |
