Be Thou At Peace

Posted by Curtis Piper on June 14, 2015:

I met Mike in Cam Ranh. He had been terribly wounded during a previous tour. He was left for dead and, as he said, "left with my guts lying on the ground." A helicopter rescued him many, many hours later. Mike went with me everywhere. He was like a body guard. He was not afraid to follow me out into the "boondocks". He told me about his family but this is not the place to discuss that aspect of his life. I was shocked when I received a card announcing his death and many years later my wife and I visited his grave near the chapel at West Point. He was one of the finest men I ever knew.
