We became good friends with Joe & Lee Sites early on as we attended various artillery schools together after graduation. In 1959 Joe and Lee were our house guests in Vicenza, Italy, where I was commanding an Honest John firing battery. (At that time Joyce and I both spoke Italian, Joe and Lee did not, but later Joe became fluent and attended the Scoula di Guerra of the Italian Army). In 1969 Joe and Lee hosted me for a week in Verona, Italy, when I was TDY there umpiring an Italian Army exercise. The Site's have been among our dearest friends for 60+ years, and we mourn Joe's passing and wish Lee well in the coming years. Ci vediamo un altra volta, Dio vi benedica Joe--- Rocky and Joyce |
