After I retired from the Army I applied for a job at the Center for Naval Analyses, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center, and George, who had been working there for a few years already was one of the staff who interviewed me. I could tell that he wasn't overly impressed with my resume but I was hired nonetheless and we ended up as friends and worked on several projects together. One particular Navy missile project took us to the Army Missile Command. While there we didn't tell anyone that we were both ex-missile artillerymen and took great pleasure, as just a couple of Navy civilian analysts, in suprising the experts with our knowledge of Army weapons and procedures. George was a complicated but very intelligent guy and I learned a great deal from him about analysis. |
