Be Thou At Peace

Posted by John E. PRITCHARD on July 27, 2017:

Major General Bogardus Snowden CAIRNS, USA, was Commanding General of the Army Aviation Center, Fort Rucker, Alabama, when he went up in an H-13 bubble-type helicopter on a routine flight. It was in the winter time. Apparently, General Cairns forgot to turn on the carburetor heat in his engine, and as a result, the carburetor iced up, the engine failed, and General Cairns crashed to his death. He gave his life to defend America, and Cairns Army Airfield at Rucker was named after him. Well done, Sir! Be thou at peace.
