Be Thou At Peace

"When peace like a river, attendeth my way; When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say, It is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come, Let this blest assurance control, That Christ hath regarded my helpless estate, And hath shed His own blood for my soul." These words were penned in 1873 after Horatio Spafford learned that his 4 daughters were lost when, as they crossed the Atlantic Ocean, their ship sank. We sang this simple hymn today in church and with Derek and his family in mind, it moved me to tears. Derek was a good man and a good friend, know that his family and friends are in my prayers. |
