Be Thou At Peace
Posted by Bob Totten on September 6, 2005:
ALBAN, JOHN H. "JACK" Died on August 31 after a brief, but characteristically stoic battle with lung cancer. Late June and early July saw him enjoying walking in Europe and traveling with grandchildren. Late August saw him home eternally.
Jack graduated from The Culver Military and the United States Military Academy at West Point. He remained an active supporter of both institutions throughout his life. Jack spent much of his adult life investing in the futures and securities markets. The investment management firm he founded, PRAGMA, Inc., was a leader in the field of managed futures, an area Jack helped pioneer. Throughout his life, and particularly since his retirement, he drew great enjoyment from both the history and playing golf as well as his playing companions at the Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas and The Everglades Club in Palm Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Joyce T. Alban; son, John Alban III; daughter-in-law Amalia Alban; and grandchildren Sara, Carol and Carmen Alban.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in the name of John H. Alban, Jr. to The Culver Academies, 1300 Academy Road, Culver Indiana 46511.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday September 7 at 4:30 p.m. at the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, 9800 Preston Road, Dallas Texas 75230. Dignity Memorial Sparkman Hillcrest 7405 W. Northwest Hwy. Dallas (214) 363-5401
