Words cannot describe the character of Derek and the type of person that he really was. I was blessed to have been put into A2 with Derek and he truly shaped me into the person I am today. He was my role model and best friend through a tough plebe year. I learned so much from him and aspire to be like him every day, on and off the ice. He had it all, and always gave it. There is someone in everyone's life who has a deep impact on a person and that was Derek for me. He set me out on the right path and has and will continue to guide me. He was a great friend, teammate, and soldier. He will be an inspiration to us all, and will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you Hinesy, and to the Hines family and friends, you will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you Hinesy, I'll never be able to repay you for all you did for me. |
