Ralph married Stella Mae Ferguson upon graduation in June of 1940, and fathered five sons, four of whom survive as of this writing. He served honorably in WWll and returned to West Point to teach from 1952 to 1956. I heard him once say that Norman Schwartzkopf was one of his students there. His service assignments included Heidelberg, Germany, and Zama, Japan. After retiring to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1966, he joined the new University of New Mexico Medical School for a second career. Following a lengthy retirement, my father passed away at the age of 100, in March of 2018. He is missed by his many children, grand children and great grand children. Rest in peace, dad. |
