I never imagined that I would see the face of this man again, who in the short time spent with us in 1964, would inspire in me such interest in our nation's space program. As an officer at the Air Force Academy, he and my Aunt Sally,and their daughter Robin, came to visit us in Denver, and he brought me an autographed photo of Scott Carpenter. He made an impression on me that lasts to this day, as a man who believed in his country, and aspired to ignite in all of us that same pride and patriotism. Rest in peace my fellow American. |
