1951: Dad would sing "Jesus loves me yes I know for the Bible tells me so." According to Dads "driver" during the Korean War, he would sing this and other southern gospel songs with the fellow "soldiers" in his company. Dad was from born and razed in Alabama.
1964: Dad showed me the AR14 / M-16 prototype he was project officer on. I was 9 years old. (1975) Upon my graduation from high school Dad told me the M-16 was jamming be use of three issues. Cleaning kits were not available and teooos in the field were not instructed in maintaining the weapon. Also the ammunition being manufactured has too much power and would overheat, and the government opted out of "coating the foreign pin" because it cost $1.78 per weapon. History Channel reports #450k M-16 shipped out in 1964.
1967: Dad was 40 years old, father of four, and a patriot.
1968: Dad retuned home from Vietnam to war protesters at Bucknell University in PA He headed the ROTC program. And Jimmy Hoffa was in the State Penitentiary on the other side of town Penitentiary on the other side of town.
1969: Last duty station at Redstone Arsenal. Sweet home Alabama. Early R&D on control systems for military drones.
In retirement Dad toured the country and competed in Slalom racing with radio control airplanes.
My Dad, father & patriot! Loved forever... hpuJr
