Be Thou At Peace

Dear Dad
What joy you would have knowing that your grandchildren are now multiplying! Sarah is now married to the most marvelous kind man who believes in GOD. She is due quite soon with her first child a baby boy. Danielle and Peter are blessed with two beautiful girls but I know they are looking to have more the moment he gets back from flying in Afghanistan. I imagine the joy you would have given to all of your children and grandchildren had you returned from Vietnam. As a mother and grandmother of the smartest, kindest and beautiful children and grandchildren...I am blessed I have everything and soon a blessed baby to enjoy and raise with love and compassion and faith as only a grandmother can do! Luckily I was blessed to have one set of grandparents who were role models to be proud of and who knew how to love. I have the letter you wrote thanking them the first night you met them. Grandma Clemmer kept it all those years. So Dad rest in piece and know that we as adults understand all to well what your intentions were And just like our son at thirty flying in Afghanistan...thinks he is invincible. But we would never let his children grow up without love and being a great part of his childrens lives if only because we love those children as we love him more than anything else in the world. No one who is a grandparent who loved their child could ever turn their back as your family did. I am simply amazed at the lack of love that they gave as a grandmother and a mother to their sons children. Being a mother and grandmother comes with unconditional love and the promise to always take care of his children with love and kindness until the day you die. My children know that family is everything and money never brings happiness. Love your youngest daughter who is blessed with an amazing husband of 31 years and an ever expanding real family of my own. Xo
