Be Thou At Peace

Posted by LTC Frank Horton, US Army (Ret) on July 19, 2020:

I served with then Colonel Sid Berry in Vietnam in 1966, in the 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. I can still remember how his voice sounded when I was on TOC duty and he would call early at 5:30 or 6 and say SITREP. Sharp, thoughtful, and fully aware of his surroundings, he was in several fire fights in which his decisions turned the tide of battle in our favor. Over the years, I ran into him at Andrews AFB and was his escort when he was Corps commander in Germany. He was always my example as an American Officer and person. I'm glad I was able to know him and serve under him. He never forgot my name or where we first met.
