Be Thou At Peace

Posted by A friend on December 27, 2020:

It's been 15 years. I still struggle to move on without you and to live a life worthy or your sacrifice - and worthy of the man you were. Looking back, we were so young. Still, yours was the great love of my life. You were so special, funny, loyal, smart, humble and kind. I know you're annoyed when you see that grief sometimes still gets the best of me, so please forgive me on those days. I used to laugh at your dream of returning to Wheeler and coaching high school football, but my goodness, in a heartbeat I'd abandon my Okie roots and sign up to sit in the stands cheering you on all my life. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. I believe that. I trust that. I also will always love you. You are a huge part of my story. I carry your heart in my mine, as do my children. You are missed. Your are loved. You did so good, Ben.
