Be Thou At Peace

Posted by CARL BOWEN on January 14, 2021:

I roomed with Mike during the first 2 years at West Point and still have those good memories of the great times we shared. I just turned 77 but still have clear thoughts about the fine Mike times. One of the main reasons I volunteered to go to Vietnam as my first tour of duty after graduation was that Mike had volunteered. In our yearbook I wrote the piece next to his picture and he wrote the one next to mine. I was heart broken on seeing his name listed as KIA in the Army paper while I was there in the field artillery in 1968 and Mike was in the Infantry. When my only son was born in 1970 I gave him his middle name Michael in honor of Mike. My family went to visit the Nathe family in 1984. Each time I see Mike's name on the Wall it again gives me great pain. I still miss him and think of him often and was very pleased that a later roommate of Mike ( Bill Foley) gave a lot of money and saw to it that at Michie Stadium a Lacrosse section is dedicated with the Nathe name.
