Be Thou At Peace
Posted by BG R.M. Ong (Ret) on May 18, 2021:
Greetings from Manila, Philippines!
Mrs. Ong and I reside in Manila (our empty nest) and in Scottsdale (homes of our son and daughter). So I belong to the West Point Societies of both Phoenix and Philippines. We try our best to attend the Societies' get-togethers as often as we can.
I knew 2 members of USMA '44: Mr. Vicente Lim Jr. (a Filipino Cadet like myself) and Col. Molloy.
I just learned that Mrs. Jean Molloy (Mike's widow) passed away very recently. I also learned that she was as loyal an Army fan as any Woo-Poo wife would be. My wife is like that too -- we got married on my Graduation Day in 1963. Oh yes, she was also a West Point resident and graduated from the Post Elementary School and Highland Falls High School as well.
The years have taken their toll, and I'm not sure I can attend many more WPSPs events. But I know that eventually, I shall meet Mike and Jean again -- and we shall do another "Buckner Rocket" together.
And now, my final salute to a great couple. Rest in Peace, my friends!
Ray Brigadier General Ramon M. Ong (Retired) Armed Forces of the Philippines USMA 1963
