Major Henry Shaw Beukema, U.S. Air Force, was an Army Brat. His father, Brigadier General Herman Beukema, was USMA Class of 1915 (The Class the Stars Fell On) (Cullum # 5338). His mother, Margaret Whitman Shaw Beukema, was the daughter of LTC Henry A. Shaw, the USMA Chief Surgeon. His birthplace was Fort Sill, OK in 1924 - where his father was stationed at the Field Artillery School. Two days following the graduation of the "D-Day Class of 1944," he married the daughter of one of his father's classmates - Elizabeth Cannell Bradley (GEN Omar Nelson Bradley). According to the USMA AoG REGISTER, Maj. Beukema, while assigned to the 405th Fighter Bomb Group, died in an air accident near Langley AFB, VA (home base for the 405th) in 1954.
