M. Brandt Tennant, 92, of Lakewood, OH and formerly Toledo, OH, died September 18, 2021. He was born to Victor and Jeanne Marie Tennant on December 22, 1928, in Tacoma, WA. Brandt was a graduate of the U.S Military Academy (West Point) '51 and Texas A&M '53, where he earned a master's in civil engineering. This began a distinguished 20-year military career with assignments in Thailand, Korea, Germany, and Turkey, culminating in being appointed Officer-In-Charge of the American Battles Monuments Commission in Paris, France for which he was awarded the Legion of Merit before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. In 1971, Brandt continued his life of service in civil engineering as Commissioner of Water for Wilmington, DE and in 1973, he moved to Ohio to be Commissioner of Water Reclamation for the City of Toledo. After being Senior Engineer with Jones and Henry Engineers, he and his wife, Margo moved to Cleveland in 1984 where he served as Deputy Commissioner of the Northeast Regional Sewer Commission. He concluded his career as a consulting engineer to the construction of landfills throughout the Midwest. He was an active member and served on the vestries of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Toledo and then Trinity Episcopal Church. Brandt and Margo earned their 4-year education certificate in EFM (Education For Ministries) from The School of Theology, the University of the South. Surviving is his wife of 46 years Margo Chester Tennant, sons Thomas (Judy), Jeffrey (Bruce Smith) and Jonathon (Frankie), brother Charles, and grandchildren Tyler, Morgan and Dawn. He was preceded in death by his son Allen Tennant, grandson Patrick Tennant, and sister Janice Alder. A burial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church 18001 Detroit Avenue Lakewood, OH on Friday, October 1st at 11am. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery 1595 W. River Road Maumee, OH on Saturday, October 2nd at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Food Bank of your choice.
