Capt. Dean Garland Crowell, USAF, was a jet fighter pilot. He arrived in South Korea in June 1950 and volunteered for the 6146th Air Force Base Unit (AFBU) (South Korean Air Force Advisory Group). According to his AoG Memorial Article, Capt. Crowell became missing in action on 1 October 1950. He was the pilot of an F-51 aircraft, participating in an attack on Pyongyang, capitol of North Korea, when his aircraft received several hits from enemy fire, went out of control and crashed. The plane exploded on impact.
